My name is Miss Cross and I teach the fabulous Year 4 class . The year 4 children are very lucky to have such a great team of teachers to support thier education. As part of our commitment to the children's mental health and well being, Mr Scott will continue to deliver Active 30 for the children every day and Mr Gibbons will be with us every Thursday for one of our PE sessions. Miss Smith will be teaching History and Maths every Tuesday morning, this term. In addition, the year 4 children will have specialist music teaching from Mr Birch at Love Music Trust, every Friday and the opportunity to learn an instrument.
For the second part of the Autumn term we have lots of exciting things planned. This half term our focus is a geography topic called "Gift of Giving" – which is all about poverty and how funds are raised to help people in need.
English: We are looking forward to reading Whale by Ethan and Vita Murrow, this is a stunning picture book and will be used to as a stimulus. Our class author this half term is Anne Fine and we will be reading excerpts from "Bill's New Frock".
Maths: In Maths we will be covering Multiplication and Division
Science: In Science we will be studying Sound
RE: This half term we are looking at what the Bible teaches us about love and forgiveness.
Computing/IT: We will using Purple Mash to learn how to use and create Spreadsheets.
PE: In PE we will be developing our skills in basketball and athletics. All PE sessions will remain outside for the time being.
PHSE and RSE :We will also be using a range of materials to support the children's physical and mental well being, including continuing with the Happy Minds programme, Kiva, No Outsiders programmes and the Christopher Winter Scheme of Work
Reading is still a high priority so please continue to read with your child at home and sign their diary.Your child will continue to receive spellings each week which they will practice both at home and in school .The children can continue to use TT rockstars to practice their times tables and also they can use the same site and password to access Numbots. Every child has an Oxford Owl log in so that they can access a variety of books at home and school. The children can access many curriculum areas on Purple Mash and practice any areas of Maths and English that they may be finding tricky.
In addition there are some great free online resources to support your child at home.
Resources to help you
The two sites below have games that reinforce concepts that children may still find tricky from earlier year groups so are great for revision of concepts, consolation and practice
