Year 4

Our class is named after the author Anne Fine.
My name is Miss Cross and I teach the fabulous Year 4 class . The year 4 children are very lucky to have such a great team of teachers to support their education. As part of our commitment to the children's mental health and well being, Mr Scott will continue to deliver Active 30 for the children 3 days a week. Miss Smith will be teaching topic and Maths every Monday morning. In addition, the year 4 children will have specialist music teaching from Mr Birch every Friday and the opportunity to learn an instrument.

Summer 2022
This half term our focus is a topic called "Lights, Camera Action". The children will be looking at the history of fashion and recycling old garments to create something new.
English: We will be studying a beautiful book called "The Lost Happy Endings" as a stimulus for our own writing.
Maths: Decimals and multiplication tables.
Science: Our unit is called "States of Matter" and we will be investigating different materials and how they change when heated and cooled.
RE: Our unit is based on why prayer is important to Christians.
Computing/IT: We will be developing our digital literacy skills focussing on research and learning how to create animations
Art/DT: We will be focussing on how to draw people and developing our design skills as we recycle our old garments into something new.
Music: This term we will be practising pieces which we will be performing alongside The Halle Orchestra at Bridgewater Hall.
PE: In PE we will be improving our throwing and catching skills through cricket and rounders.
PHSE and RSE :We will also be using a range of materials to support the children's physical and mental well being, including continuing with the Happy Minds programme, Kiva, No Outsiders programmes and the Christopher Winter Scheme of Work. The focus this term is Growing Up.

Reading is still a high priority so please continue to read with your child at home and sign their diary.Your child will continue to receive spellings each week which they will practice both at home and in school .The children can continue to use TT rockstars to practice their times tables and also they can use the same site and password to access Numbots. Every child has an Oxford Owl log in so that they can access a variety of books at home and school. The children can access many curriculum areas on Purple Mash and practice any areas of Maths and English that they may be finding tricky.
In addition there are some great free online resources to support your child at home.
