Year 3

My name is Mr Hollinrake and I teach year 3, as well as the wonderful Miss Smith who teaches year 3 on a Wednesday morning.

Please make sure to keep an eye out on Facebook and Twitter for any important letters or information regarding the class. I will keep updating this as well as sending any other important information out via Teachers2parents.

Your child will receive spellings each week which they will practise both at home and in school ready for a weekly spelling test in school. The children can continue to use TT rockstars to practise their times tables. The children should also read every night and please remember to sign this in your child's diary.

If you have any questions please write a note in your child's communication diary. You can also contact me via the school office or on the Year 3 email address:

In Literacy this half term we will be exploring the text 'Fox' and writing our own fable narratives and information reports based on the text.

Please make sure you're reading with your child each night and sign their communication diary when you've heard them read. Children on accelerated reader will change their own books after they complete the quiz in school. Children should be aiming to do at least a book a week on accelerated reader (dependent on book length).

In maths this half term we will be focusing on number work, including the 3, 4 and 8's times tables as well as looking at the divisions for these.

This term in science our topic is Light'. We will be looking at all different aspects of light and darkness as well as studying the work of Johann Ritter.

This half term our topic is The Penny Black, in which we will be looking at Queen Victoria and what it was like to live during the Victorian times.
