Mrs Torrie and Mrs Rogers share the teaching of year 2.
Keep an eye on the class page for any letters that we send out. You can also follow the school social media accounts on Facebook and Twitter to keep up to date with the latest news and events.
Your child now has their own personalised login details for 'Purple Mash', 'Spelling Shed', 'Times Table Rockstars' and Google classroom. Children should read once a day at home.
If you have any questions, please write a note in your child's communication diary. You can also contact us via the school office or on the Year 2 email address: email@example.com We will endeavour to support you and your child the best we can.
In English we will be exploring the text 'The River' and writing our own stories and letters. Please allow your child time each week to log on to spelling shed where there are weekly spellings for them to work on.
Please make sure you're reading with your child each night and sign their communication diary when you've heard them read. Two RWI books will go home with your child each Monday and will need to be returned to school on a Friday to be cleaned over the weekend. Children on Accelerated Reader will change their own books after they complete the quiz in school. Children should be aiming to do at least a book a week on Accelerated Reader (dependent on book length).
In Maths we will be focusing on number work, including multiplication and division. All children have a TTRockstar account to help them work on their mental maths skills.
This term in Science our topic is 'Living Things and their Habitats'. We will be exploring the living things in the school environment and the work of Jane Goodall. It would be great when you are in the garden or out and about to have a look at the living things and their habitats. Please send in any observations you make and we will add them to our science display in class.
This half term our topic is 'Behind Enemy Lines' and we are learning about the Second World War. We are also going to be having a fun-filled evacuation experience day at the village hall. A letter has been sent home about this exciting trip!
This half term we will be exploring the Christian Value of love and learning about baptisms.
Our computing will be linked to our History topic. We will be exploring internet searching and presenting information. We will be using Purple Mash. It is great if you can allow your children time to work on logging in and improving their typing skills and confidence at home.
