Our class is named after the author Jeanne Willis.
Welcome to the Year 1 page . My name is Miss Bloore and I will be teaching the wonderful Year 1. I am delighted to say we are back teaching a full curriculum and Mr Scott will be leading our daily Active 30 sessions. If you have any questions about your child's learning please contact me via the children's diaries, class email or the school office. I will always do my very best to support you and your child. I will upload all letters and resources we send home to support your child to this class page (where possible). I will also use this page to update you with what we are currently learning about in class. Please also follow the school Facebook/Twitter accounts for up to date information and celebrations of work.
In Literacy we will be exploring the text 'Rapunzel' by Bethan Woollvin. Our main aim for our writing this half term is to begin to recognise the purpose of nouns, verbs and adjectives within our writing and to continue securing the children's ability to apply capital letters, full stops and finger spaces consistently. Additionally, We will be continuing to looking closely at letter formation and increasing the children's writing stamina. Our aim is to write our own version of a traditional tale by Christmas.
Please read with your child 15 min per day and sign their home school diary. The children will be regularly re- assessed (every 6 weeks) in our read writing inc reading scheme and new books levels will be re- issued.
We are introducing our Singapore maths scheme, as part of the scheme they will complete a focus task and daily workbook activity. Our topics for this half term are subtraction, positions and numbers within 20. Additionally we will also complete a daily maths practise where we will be looking at securing and embedding our knowledge of addition and subtraction.
If you child has a Doodle Maths login they can access it via here
This half term we will continue to look at our topic Where is Acton? the children will be looking at the history and location of Acton. This half term we will be comparing Acton to a city school and learning about the differences between the two.

We will also be touching on internet safety when online and gaming. This will run closely alongside our RSE curriculum. Children will also have access to Numbots, spelling bee to support their learning.
In RSE we are looking at how to recognise and regulate our feelings and how to form positive relationships with our peers. We will also be celebrating the similarities and differences within our families and traditions.
Please use the communication diaries to send any messages as these are checked everyday. Alternatively, you can call the school office. Please always let me know if some else is picking up your child or any change of arrangements.
If you child has to isolate and there's learning at home you may use the class email to communicate with the teacher.
