A very warm welcome back to the Autumn term! We hope you had a wonderful half term and feel excited to explore this wonderful time of year together.
This page is full of useful information for parents, including pictures of what we've been up to during the term and helpful tips on supporting you at home.
This term our whole school topic is 'Star in a Jar?' We will be learning about space, hopes and dream and how we are all unique; looking at inspirational people from the past and present.
We will be creating a rocket ship for us to fly to space and a spacerole play area for the children to play and explore using their imaginary skills.
Reading is a valuable and powerful tool in your child's development. By developing a love for reading and sharing stories, rhymes and poems, it also strengthens our vocabulary and comprehension skills. At Acton Ce Primary Academy, we ensure the curriculum we use is enriched with language and storytelling to support your child's love for reading, with story time a daily part of our routine. The learning environment is filled with exciting and engaging stories for your child to enjoy. We will continue to send reading for pleasure books home this half term and children will recive their RWI phonics books to help practice their sounding and blending.
For phonics we are following the Read Write Inc. scheme. We have daily phonics sessions in class.
On the right of this page there is also a Powerpoint on Read Write Inc for parents, this will provide you with some information on how we teach phonics and what you can do at home to support this. We also have logins for Teach Your Monster to Read and encourage you to use this resource at home, the children love the games!
Our PE lessons will be on a Monday with myslef and Thursday afternoon with our OPE specailist teacher Mr Gibbons. We ask for the PE kit to remain in school during the week due to any possible timetable changes or extra activities where the PE kit will be needed.
During this term we will take part in a range of forest activities on the school grounds. Please provide your child with a pair of wellies that they can keep in the class during the term.
Focusing on ourselves- How it is important to be unique, love who we are and understand that everyone is different.
