Pupil voice is vital in order to give the children the best possible experience of school. We value the children's opinions and consult with them to gain their perspective. The School Council is made up of 14 children. Each class has two school council members, who are elected by the class, there are additional leaders in Y6, including a Head Boy and Head Girl. The School Council members are easily recognised around school, as they proudly wear their blue School Council badges.
Our School Council meet alternate Fridays to gain a pupil voice on school matters. School councilors are encouraged to discuss school life, represent their classmates and share in decision making with teachers.
Currently priorities for school council are:
Leading on twinning projects with other schools beyond the U.K
Changing the current class names so that they reflect the current ethos of the school
As well as sharing their opinions about our current educational provision, learning environment and curriculum initiatives.
The school council have reviewed class names. Each class was consulted and the children made lots of fantastic suggestions finally the school council decided that each class should be named after a famous author. We will shortly be purchasing signs for each classroom. Our class names are now
EYFS – Donaldson
Y1 – Willis
Y2 – Kes
Y4 – Fine
Y5 – Kinney
Y6 – Rowling
Mrs McKinlay has purchased a time capsule and the school council are supporting each class to choose what they would like to put in to it. The school council had some fantastic ideas such as the front cover of a popular book, photographs of the school and pictures of some of the toys and games children currently play. Every child can have their say by choosing what they think should be put in to reflect life in Acton school in 2022.
To develop the learners of tomorrow and equip them with the skills to flourish and succeed for "nothing is impossible with God"
